Emails have by far become the most important part of our personal and professional lives. That is why, Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express have become an integral part of our work life. Every day when we start our computer, especially in the office, the first thing we do is, check our mails. And mostly, we reply to them immediately, while others which need extra time, are marked or flagged, for reading and replying at a time, when we don’t have pressing work. Further, we do delete all the useless mails, also known as Junk mails. With a slew of Spam mails doing the rounds today, there are a large number of mails that we delete daily, or weekly. To prevent accidental deletion of useful files, there is the added option of ‘Deleted Items folder’, in both the Microsoft email applications which allows us to recover deleted e-mails.
But when we are sure of the emails we do not want in our Outlook mailbox, like junk mails and Spam mails, we go ahead and delete them using Shift+Delete key combination. This way of deleting the files is also known as hard deleting a file. Another way of hard deleting files is by deleting the deleted files from the ‘Deleted Items folder’. But there are times, when along with the useless files, one or a few important files also get selected for deletion, and therefore get deleted, rather get ‘hard deleted’.
In such situations, for MS Office Outlook users, the only savior is archiving feature (i.e., in case your hard deleted files were archived before you deleted them). Archiving is a way of creating backups of old items like, emails, attachments, contacts, appointments, notes, journals, etc. Though, it is not necessary to create a backup manually as AutoArchive is a feature that allows you to backup files on the basis of default or specified archiving settings, automatically. Otherwise, you’ll have to recover deleted e-mails, by opting for third-party deleted mail recovery applications. These applications scan the entire PST file for all the items that have been deleted due to some reason or the other.
Stellar Phoenix Deleted Email Recovery is a reliable email restoration software that restores all the deleted PST items as PST, EML, and MSG files, and all deleted DBX e-mail files as .dbx and .eml files. Compatible with various Windows operating platforms including W7, Vista, XP, 2003, 2000 and NT4, this deleted mail recovery utility supports recovery of deleted emails that were created in MS Outlook emails 2007, 2003, 2002 and 2000, and in Outlook Express 5.x and 6.x.

How to recover deleted e-mails from Sent Items folder in Outlook

Have you permanently deleted e-mails from Sent Items folder in Microsoft Outlook? Do not know what to do? This situation can erupt when you use shift+ delete key combination to get rid off an unwanted e-mail or appointment, and later feel the need to retrieve some important information from it. Luckily, you are in a condition to recover the hard-deleted e-mail from Sent Items folder if you are connected to an Exchange Server. Another major factor is if your administrator has enabled the retention period feature in Exchange Server which enables it to retain deleted items for a particular period of time. If you are sure about the settings, then you just have to modify the Windows registry to perform deleted email recovery.

Outlook gives you an opportunity to retrieve items which you have permanently deleted, including those deleted from the Deleted Items folder. But, you can recover deleted items until a specific time. This specific time is the period which your Exchange Server administrator fixes as the retention period. According to his set time, you have bright chances of recovering deleted items. But, once the time period elapses, you cannot recover the deleted items.

How is it possible?

There is a Recover Deleted Items option in the Tools menu of your Microsoft Outlook. This enables you to recover items deleted from specifically and only 'Deleted Items' folder. But, if you modify the registry, you can make this option available for any other Outlook folder including Sent Items. This signifies that you can view and retrieve deleted items from Sent Items folder, including those which were permanently deleted.

How to make changes to registry?

Making changes to Windows registry should be done under supervision if you do not have adequate technical knowledge. If you fail to make changes to Windows registry correctly, you might be required to reinstall your Operating System. Therefore, be very careful with the following steps:

A) Close Outlook
B) Go to Start>Run>type regedit, click OK
C) In registry editor, browse to the following key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options
D) Go to Edit menu, click Add value and add the following value:
Value name: DumpsterAlwaysOn
Data type: DWORD
Value data: 1
E) Now, exit registry editor

After changing the Windows registry, you can easily perform deleted mail recovery from Sent Items folder by using Recover Deleted Items option in the Tools menu of Outlook.

If you want to recover items which were deleted from Sent Items folder prior making changes to Windows registry, then it is advisable you go for a third-party deleted e-mail recovery application.

One reliable tool which enables you to recover deleted e-mails and other items from both Outlook and Outlook Express is Stellar Phoenix Deleted Email Recovery. This deleted mail recovery application is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, 2000 and NT (SP6).
