How to Recover Permanently Deleted E-mails from Outlook

Outlook is a personal informational manager by Microsoft. It is being widely used by corporate and individuals and is the most used email client. It facilitates us to store and access email messages, contacts, calendar entries, notes, tasks, journals etc.

Outlook stores all data the in PST(personal storage table) file. And many users regularly backup their .pst file to prevent any case of data loss. But what happens when you or the system administrator intentionally or accidentally deleted some emails or other mailbox component and you also have emptied the Trash Folder or use hard delete to remove the item. What if you have not even taken any backup before deletion of mails which were updated after last backup? In that case your backup PST file does not contain that data.

Resolution: If you are using Outlook with Exchange Server you can recover such permanently deleted emails. As there is a specified retention time for permanently deleted emails in Exchange Server. To recover within that retention time follow below steps:

Go to Tools menu in the menu bar of Outlook.
Click on the Recover Deleted Items.
This will show you all the emails that you can recover.
Click on the E-mail that you want to recover and click on the Recover Selected Items icon.

Once the process has been completed the email will appear in your Deleted Items folder and you can Restore it.

But in case, when the retention time of the Exchange Server passed and then you realized that you have missed some important emails or other mailbox component. Then these steps will not help you to recover the component. In this case, you may try third party tools that works on .pst file and can recover deleted emails. Such tools are easy to use so you need not to be a technical expert to use these tools. Some organizations like Stellar Phoenix Deleted Email Recovery provide demo version (free) of the tool that will shows you 100% preview of all recoverable components.
