Deleted items and other mail objects can be recovered even after complete deletion

There are many occasions, when you may have realized the importance of an email after deleting it from your MS Outlook or Outlook Express mailbox. At times, the mails are intentionally deleted, whereas sometimes the emails, calendar entries, notes, tasks, journals, appointments or even contacts get accidentally deleted, resulting in the loss of valuable information regarding business communication. For such cases there are many email recovery software available in the market, which can help you recover deleted emails that have been lost due to deletion.

In the course of day to day computer usage, you have understood certain things that nobody is that perfect not to make even a single mistake. To whatever extent you may try, mistakes do happen and accidental mail deletion is one such example. You can not prevent an incident of accidental deletion. If you think you could have prevented the incident, then probably you would not have done the mistake either. So, it is useless to think on how you deleted important mails, rather it is important to find ways for recovering them.

Below are some of the common instances that lead to the situations of mail object deletion:
  • Removing mail items from the 'Deleted Items' folders of MS Outlook or Outlook Express
  • Emptying Deleted Items folder
  • Directly deleting items using Shift+Delete key, without sending them to the Deleted Items folder
  • Deletion of e-mails or other PST objects due to virus or malware infection
  • Accidental deletion of sub-folders

When you delete any email object normally, the item goes into the 'Deleted Items' folder, from which you can restore the item back. But, when you remove items from the Deleted Items folder itself or empty the entire folder, the items get completely deleted and you can not have the option to restore them.

But, there is an interesting fact about the deleted mail objects, which can help recovering them by the use of any email recovery software. MS Outlook stores all the email messages and other mail objects in a PST file. With every new email, the size of the PST file grows, but when the mail items are deleted the PST size remains intact. This is because, though Outlook removes entries of the deleted item, it still contain the content of the deleted item until some other item gets saved in that place.

The deleted email recovery software try to read the lost entries of deleted items and thus recover them back. These software are even shows the preview of all the recoverable items and allows recovering them as .eml, .pst, .msg format. Moreover, the software come with interactive user interfaces are quite easy to use.
